Serenity Hills Wedding Celebration
This Minnesota wedding at Serenity Hills was super emotional, laid back and full of love. Betsy and Zach planned a day that would feel totally like themselves: fun, quirky and loving. And they definitely got it right!
Living in Minnesota, you learn how to plan for every kind of weather. Luckily, we had beautiful clear skies, but it was WINDY! To keep everyone’s hair safe until after the ceremony, Betsy and Zach had an intimate first look indoors and we took advantage of this gorgeous venue to get some portraits. I just love their elegant dresses and suits against the rustic barnwood walls!
The ceremony was incredibly touching. Betsy and Zach wrote their own vows, and their friends surprised them with a performance in the middle of their ceremony. There wasn’t a dry eye in the place!
Later, we got a chance to take some photos overlooking the valley during sunset, and we had to take advantage of the field of corn, because Betsy is from Olivia, Minnesota, the Corn Capital of the World.
The reception was so much fun – and just as emotional as the ceremony in some parts! Betsy and her dad are incredibly close, so there were a few tears when the two shared a dance. He also gave a wonderfully touching speech that included an honorable mention to Zach’s home town of Austin, Minnesota, the birthplace of SPAM.
We also photographed her sister Laura’s wedding a few years ago in Olivia. I absolutely adore the entire Vogt family. They’re wonderfully tight-knit and so much fun. Congratulations to Betsy and Zach!
