How proposal planning works

My Signature Proposal Experience includes photography and planning assistance along with location recommendations and tips.

We can start with what you have so far, it might be a specific date, a location your partner loves or simply an idea of how you want the proposal to feel. From there, I’ll help you fill in the missing pieces.

For my Signature Proposal Experience, we’ll plan:

• The proposal location
• The best time for beautiful light
• The exact spot where you’ll stand
• Where I’ll be hiding
• How you’ll guide your partner to the exact spot
• A backup plan for weather
• What happens after they say yes

I’ll send you the important details ahead of time so you aren’t trying to remember everything while your heart is beating approximately one million times per minute. If you are local, I’d be happy to include a walkthrough in person, by the time proposal day arrives, you’ll know exactly what to expect!

Finding the right proposal location

I’ll help you think about more than how the location looks. We’ll also consider crowds, lighting, walking distance, accessibility, weather and whether you need permission to photograph there.

A few of my Minneapolis and Minnesota favorites include Stone Arch Bridge, Como Zoo, Boom Island Park, Lyndale Rose Garden, Minnehaha Falls, Rice Park, the North Shore and, honestly, any lake that already means something to the two of you.

The photograph of you down on one knee matters, but I’m watching for the moments before, the reaction, putting on the ring, the hugs and all the happy afterward.

How far in advance should I book a proposal photographer?

Reach out as soon as you know your approximate date. More notice gives us greater flexibility with locations, reservations and planning, especially during weekends, holidays and Minnesota’s busiest seasons.

Will you help me choose the proposal location?

My Signature Proposal Experience includes personalized location recommendations based on your vision, season, privacy preferences and what would feel most natural for your partner. If you already have a location in mind, I can help fine tune your plan and determine the best time, exact proposal point and photography angle.

How will I know where to stand?

We will discuss the plan and you’ll have clear directions before the proposal day. Depending on the location, I may use photographs, maps, landmarks or a dropped pin to show you exactly where to go.

Will my partner notice you?

I arrive early and position myself discreetly. Depending on the location, I may look like another visitor, someone photographing the scenery or a person waiting nearby.

What happens if it rains or snows?

We will create a weather plan before proposal day. Light rain or snow can be beautiful, but severe weather may require adjusting the time or using our backup location.

Can family and friends be part of the proposal?

Absolutely! Family can hide nearby or wait at a second location for a second surprise celebration! Friends and family are great help for decorations too!

Can you help with decorations?

Yes! I recommend hiring our professional planner and decorator for florals, candles, marquees or any fun ideas you have!

How soon will we receive our photographs?

Signature Proposal Experiences include next-day gallery so you will have beautiful photographs ready to share while the excitement is still fresh.
