About the Lafayette Club
The Lafayette Club in Minnetonka is a Spanish-style beautiful private Country club in the shore of Lake Minnetonka.
Its origins go back to 1882 when it was first built as Hotel by James J Hill . Afte r a fire destroyed it in 1897 James J Hill deeded the land to the Lafayette founders and it returned as a social club in 1899 until it was burnt again in 1922. Lafayette’s current clubhouse was built in 1925 to be the now distinguished club and hotel .
Weddings at Lafayette Club
Lafayette Club is one of the most memorable Historic venue for weddings and special events ! It has a lovely Waterfront view and Gardens surrounding the Club House and a gorgeous Crystal Ballroom with an enclosed veranda overlooking the lake, hardwood floors and crystal chandeliers.
The lakeside garden area surrounding the Clubhouse is perfect for ceremonies and cocktail hours!
The capacity of the venue is 300+ guests.

The James J Jill Bridal Suite is bright and spacious, surrounded by large mirrors and private deck.

The big white doors surrounding the reception space are filled with natural light . The white in contrast with the warmth lights from the chandelier is is a lovely space for a couple’s photography session.

In front of the Minnetonka Lake, and the sunset in front, makes for some awesome photographs. We truly the love the creative space for the reception, the white doors, and the many opportunities for beautiful photos!

You don’t need to be a Lafayette Club member to host your event.
The venue offers their own (fantastic!) catering. An Executive Chef will meet with you to arrange a custom menu.
The Club has 17 hotel rooms for overnight stays for you, your family and friends!
