Ever since their engagement session I have been looking forward to photographing this soft-spoken, hardworking, and ever so much in love couple’s wedding! Lexie and Roger were both born in Minnesota, but didn’t meet until they attended college at University of Nebraska Omaha. Roger was an RA who showed Lexie around campus on a summer tour, and a love story began.
St. Croix National Golf and Event Center Wedding
Originally to be held outdoors at St. Croix National Golf and Event Center, it rained on the day of the ceremony. Everything moved indoors and it was still just as gorgeous! Nobody, bride and groom included, let the rain affect the happiest of days. We even got some really wonderful pictures of the wedding party outside with umbrellas. A friend of the family, Maureen Zaske, served as the wedding planner. She flawlessly executed the transition to plan B and having the wedding inside. She did such fantastic work!
I was amazed at all the things the bride, along with friends and family, did herself! She made all the signage, paper programing, invites, and my personal favorite, the cord of three strands. The color scheme was very light and ethereal. Ivory and greenery were used, with hints of actual raspberries! There were actual raspberries in all of the bouquets, as well as the cake topper!
The bride’s dress was a jaw dropper. The bridesmaids wore stunning cap sleeved, drape backed, floor length gowns from Rent the Runway, and the little girls were adorable! Can you believe that Lexie used to babysit them when she was growing up?
Lexie wanted to do a first look not only with her husband to be, but with her father as well. When Lexie’s dad saw her in her wedding gown, the pride and love he has for his daughter radiated from him. Then it was time for Roger to see Lexie. I have to say, nothing beats the look on the groom’s face when he sees his bride for the first time. Roger could not take his eyes off of Lexie.
The reception was so much fun. I think if you asked the bride and groom, the speeches everyone made would have been their favorite part. These two families, now joined together by Roger and Lexie, were such a powerful celebration of family to witness. The parents and grandparents were just so proud of the bride and groom. Love was at the center of everything about this wedding celebration. I captured so many great images on the dance floor as the entire wedding party and guests danced the night away!
Speaking of the dance party, the Bride and Groom’s first dance was to Charles Kelley’s The Only One Who Gets Me, and it was one of the highlights of the night. As you can see, friends and family had a fantastic time celebrating this newly married couple, and ended the night on a bright note! A sparkling send off was arranged for Lexie and Roger, and I got the most gorgeous shots of them under the lights!
I am so grateful to Lexie and Roger and their entire group of friends and family for allowing us to be a part of such a beautiful day to start what I am sure will be a beautiful marriage!
